Rise and Shoot Farm’s Karen Washington Promotes New York Community Gardens

On this day, garden activist Karen Washington gave a speech to help spur the community garden movement in New York City.
Karen Washington has done so much for the Bronx as an urban gardener.
The theme of her talk was peace and justice.
Karen's an award-winning gardener, farmer, and co-owner of her business called Rise and Shoot Farm.
It was Karen Washington who said,
If you come into the garden feeling sad, you will leave feeling happy.
