Monologue
Today is National Garden Meditation Day.
Forget about your troubles
Go to the garden (if you're not there already).
Feel the breeze or the sprinkles.
Smell the rain.
Look at all the signs of life around you... all the shades of green emerging from the ground.
Listen to the sound of spring.
Garden time is restorative and resetting.

Botanical History On This Day
1863 Walter Elias Broadway, Kew-trained gardener and indefatigable plant collector, was born. He became the foremost authority on the flora of Trinidad and Tobago despite professional strife and personal hardship.
1819 Henry Shaw arrived in St. Louis, beginning a journey that would lead to the founding of the Missouri Botanical Garden and a legacy of civic generosity without equal.
2015 Saks Fifth Avenue’s Glam Gardens bloomed nationwide as stores transformed into floral fantasies, turning luxury retail into a month-long celebration of horticultural spectacle.
1963 The Valley of Flowers Festival continues in Florissant, Missouri, honoring one of the state’s oldest settlements and its enduring love affair with blooms.
Unearthed Words
1904 Conservationist Charles Joseph Sauriol was born, later recording his devotion to the Don River valley in diaries filled with pine needles, poetry, and quiet resolve.
