Ornamental Fall Berries Provide Year-Round Awe

Here are some excellent plant picks from @uie_hort that offer year-round interest. Not only do these plants offer beautiful flower displays & pretty foliage, but they also have a remarkable presentation of fruits called drupes:
‘Brandywine’ possumhaw viburnum (Viburnum nudum), Beautyberry (Callicarpa Americana), and White fringe tree (Chionanthus virginicus).

Botanical History On This Day

1791 Australia’s first thriving grapevine was successfully established at Parramatta after early failures at Farm Cove, marking the true beginning of the Australian wine industry.

1885 Marianne Moore, poet, Dodgers fan, and founder of the Friends of Prospect Park, who helped save the beloved Camperdown Elm, was born.

1887 Georgia O’Keeffe, the iconic American painter famed for her bold skulls and magnified flowers—and for painting Hawai‘i’s tropical imports rather than its natives—was born.

1929 Constance Spry’s first hedgerow-filled shop window shocked London and launched the career of the revolutionary floral designer who would later style the Queen’s coronation flowers.
