My Relationship With My Garden Hose | May Dreams Gardens
"In the spring, we optimistically buy that big heavy hose that is guaranteed to last a lifetime and never kink. And when we see that hose all wrapped up on the store shelf, we believe those claims.
Then we get it home and discover what bad manners it has.
Kink?
Of course, it will kink the minute you look at it and even think about watering.
Heavy?
So heavy you can barely stand the thought of pulling it around the garden to water."

Botanical History On This Day
300 St. Phocas the Gardener, patron of hospitality, fed the poor from his plot in Turkey and met martyrdom with grace—his garden a ministry of generosity.
1883 Frances Ropes Williams, MIT grad and hosta hybridizer, was born; her serendipitous yellow-edged seedling became the beloved ‘Frances Williams’.
1886 John Goldie, Scottish botanist of Canada’s wilds, died; discoverer of Goldie’s woodfern, he logged new species and inspired a generation of plant explorers.
