1906 Birth of Stella Ross-Craig, English botanical illustrator renowned for her detailed Drawings of British Plants series. She brought life to Kew’s dried specimens and made botanical art accessible with affordable illustrated books, earning the Kew International Medal and the Royal Horticultural Society's Gold Veitch Memorial Medal late in life.
1938 A diary entry by Canadian naturalist Charles Joseph Sauriol reveals his playful battle with a mole while championing conservation in the Don River Valley. Sauriol’s lifelong dedication helped save natural areas across Ontario, blending a deep connection to nature with poetic reflections on the changing seasons.
