Botanical History On This Day
1811 Charles Wright, the Texas botanist, was born in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Wright’s insatiable curiosity carried him far from his New England roots to Cuba, Texas, and beyond, where he gathered plants that would enrich American herbaria.
1972 The Berkshire Eagle published a revealing article about Henry David Thoreau [THOR-oh], titled “Thoreau: The Amateur Botanist.”
