May 3, 2015
On this day in 2015, dear readers, a most extraordinary horticultural spectacle unfolded across the realm of high fashion.
As if by some enchanted decree, all Saks Fifth Avenue establishments simultaneously unveiled their month-long May spring theme: Glam Gardens.
Oh, how the mundane world of retail was transformed into a veritable Eden!
Imagine, if you will, each storefront blossoming into a garden paradise, with beauty-themed installations flourishing in windows and throughout the halls.
The Glam Gardens catalog and saks.com were awash with floral themes, a veritable feast for the eyes of any discerning gardener.
With the assistance of 35 beauty and fragrance artisans, Saks Fifth Avenue conjured individual gardenscapes within each window, interwoven into magnificent floral façades.
To achieve this botanical wonder, over 120 boxwood balls, ten full-grown climbing topiary trees, and more than 100,000 flowers were artfully arranged. One can almost smell the heady perfume of such an abundance!
Like the store's iconic holiday windows, each garden vignette offered a distinctive botanical world to inspire customers and spark lively conversations.
One can only imagine the delight of passersby, their faces pressed against the glass, marveling at the horticultural artistry within.
Through Glam Gardens we have created a breathtaking living tribute to Mother Nature.
Spring fragrance and color inspirations will be brought to life through blooming cascades of floral artistry.
We hope to bring an element of delight to all who visit Saks this season.
So proclaimed Mark Briggs, Chief Marketing Officer of Saks Fifth Avenue, his words as carefully cultivated as the displays themselves.
Dear gardeners, while we may not all have the resources of a grand department store at our disposal, let this serve as inspiration for our own humble plots.
Perhaps a window box bursting with colorful blooms, or a carefully curated container garden on a balcony?
After all, the joy of gardening lies not in the scale, but in the love and attention we bestow upon our green companions.
Until next time, may your gardens flourish and your spirits bloom.
