William Bartram: America’s First Flower Hunter and Artistic Botanist

William Bartram (1739-1823) was an American naturalist, botanist, and artist, considered one of the first native-born American naturalists. He is best known for his book Travels through North and South Carolina, Georgia, East and West Florida, published in 1791, which documented his extensive travels and observations of the southeastern United States.
