On this day, Japanese arborist Masayuki Ebinuma propagated a new generation of flame trees from the mother tree.
The mother tree survived the atomic bomb on Nagasaki.
Today, one of the propagated Flame Trees is now located at the Glasgow Botanic Garden.
It is planted at the entrance of the herb garden.
